Hong Kong Data Centre Conferences –16th October 2009

IT Matters Forum 2009 - "The Market - Where is IT?" - 21 May 2009


The Forum serves dual objectives - in light of the global economic challenges, where are the viable markets for the IT industry in Hong Kong, and what are the relevant value propositions where IT would effectively enhance the productivity and competitive advantages of business organizations, in particular the SMEs? Discussions will focus on the realizable values of IT, the challenges in growing the Hong Kong-based IT industry while fulfilling the expectations of businesses, and the role of Government in facilitating the sustainability of the IT industry in Hong Kong.

Request for Proposal - Solution Website for 2008/09 OGCIO SSP for SMEs in Travel Industry

The Hong Kong Information Technology Federation (HKITF) is seeking a qualified entity for the development of the Solution Website under 2008/09 OGCIO Sector-Specific IT Training Programme for SMEs in Travel Industry. The programme includes a few seminars, solution fairs and trainings, while the solution website serves in delivering promotions, hosting seminar and training information, providing a self-learning platform and maintaining continuous support for the industry.

Call for volunteers and donations: IT people for disaster relief (supported by HKITF)

The Trade and Industry Department is now inviting SME entrepreneurs to join the 2008/10 Mentorship Programme, which is run by its Support and Consultation Centre for SMEs (SUCCESS) with 61 leading industrial and trade organisations, professional and academic bodies. The Programme aims to provide an opportunity for SME entrepreneurs who are at their early stage of business to learn from and be guided by accomplished entrepreneurs, senior executives and professionals through one-on-one free counselling. Relief.Asia is an online platform which was developed in the wake of the Myanmar Cyclone and Sichuan Earthquake Disaster that tore through the region in May, 2008. The website was deployed as a tool and platform to drive awareness and community contribution towards the rebuilding of nature-savaged regions such as Myanmar (also known as Burma) and Sichuan, through the application of Information Technology. Common Chinese Language Interface (CCLI)

Under the Digital 21 Strategy for IT Development, the Government has established an open and common Chinese language interface (CCLI) for the HKSAR to facilitate more effective electronic communication using Chinese by the public. A pivotal element of the CCLI is the adoption of the ISO 10646 standard and the Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS). A CCLI Thematic Website has been implemented on the advice of the Chinese Language Interface Advisory Committee (CLIAC) to promote the wider adoption of the CCLI in the community. The First IT professional credentialing scheme in HK

Established in May 2007, the Hong Kong Institute for IT Professional Certification (HKITPC) pioneers the first IT professional credentialing scheme in HK developed with the synergy and recognition of IT professionals, academics and employers. Its leadership namely the Board of Governance and the Certification Board, consists of representatives from the professional and trade associations, academia and business organizations. The institute strives to maintain and promote the profession’s expertise, to inspire IT professional personal professional development and ultimately to foster the HK IT industry’s development and competitiveness.

The credentialing schemes on Certified Professional IT (Project Director), Certified Professional IT (Systems Architect) and Certified Professional IT (Quality Assurance Manager) are open for application now! This technical workshop aims at transferring the skills to Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) on how to connect to the DTTN and develop its compatible solutions. DTTN (Digital Trade and Transportation Network) is a HKSAR Government endorsed, open and secure e-platform for trade document exchange in the trading, logistics and finance industry to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The Digital Agenda Forum: the challenge of copyright in digital age on 26 April 07 (Thursday)

The Commerce, Industry and Technology Bureau issued a consultation paper in December 2006, for seeking public views on issues related to further strengthening the existing legal protection for copyright. The proposal attracts public discussions. With an objective to conduct a comprehensive discussion on how to strike a reasonable balance between the competing interests, various IT associations and Office of Mr. Sin Chung Kai are organizing the Digital Agenda Forum on 26 April. 《廣東省Linux軟硬件產品推薦目錄》計劃 - 鼓勵香港軟硬體公司把軟件產品加入廣東省政府採購目錄 (最後報名期限為2006 年11 月底)

廣東省政府於2005 年成功舉辦『廣東省Linux 軟體推進計劃的《Linux 軟硬體產品推薦目錄》』,共200多個產品申請列入該目錄之內,其中約有110 個產品能獲得批准。由於省政府各單位均以此目錄為採購軟硬體優先考慮名單,令成功獲得批准的產品 / 公司生意大增。最近, 廣東省政府宣佈此項目再次在2006 年接受申請報名,並接受香港公司申請,而最後報名期限為2006 年11 月底。

廣東省Linux 公共服務技術支持中心(GDLC)是這項推薦目錄計劃的執行及評選機構,聯同香港資訊科技商會及香港生產力促進局,鼓勵更多香港軟硬體公司參與此項目。此項目已獲香港政府資訊科技總監辦公室資助,請按此查閱有關詳情及申請
